Cuts, beards & hot-towel shaves

A slower chair,
and a cut that still
looks right on Friday.

Cedar Ward is a four-chair shop built around one idea: nobody should be rushed out of the seat. We talk it through, take the time the cut needs, and show you how to keep it.

  • Walk-ins welcome before noon
  • Open six days
  • Apprentice chair on Tuesdays
The interior of a barbershop with leather chairs lined up along a mirrored wall and warm overhead lighting.

The shop

Four chairs, one standard, no queue barking at the door.

We keep the room quiet and the bookings spaced. That means a barber has time to look at how your hair actually grows before the clippers come out — where the crown splits, where the neckline wants to sit, how much weight you can lose before it stops behaving.

Every cut ends the same way: a clean finish, a look at the back with the hand mirror, and an honest answer about how long it will hold. If four weeks is the truth, we will tell you four weeks.

  • A proper consultation before anything is cut
  • Wash, cut and a finish styled the way you wear it
  • Neck and edges cleaned with a straight razor
  • Plain advice on products — and which ones you can skip
A barber trimming a client's hair with scissors and a comb at the chair. Clippers, scissors, a comb and a shaving brush laid out on a barber's counter.

Price list

What things cost, and how long they take.

One price per service. No surcharge for thick hair, long hair or a bit of extra time at the end.

Cuts

  • The Cedar Cut 45 min £34 Wash, scissor cut and a styled finish. The everyday cut most chairs are booked for.
  • Skin Fade 50 min £38 Clipper work taken down to the skin, blended by hand and razored at the edges.
  • Tidy & Neckline 25 min £20 A shape-up between full cuts — sides, neck and around the ears.
  • First Cut 30 min £18 For younger clients, at whatever pace they need. Someone can sit alongside the chair.

Beard & shave

  • Beard Shape 30 min £22 Trimmed to length, lines set with a razor, finished with oil.
  • Hot Towel Shave 45 min £32 Hot towels, brush lather, straight razor and a cold finish. Booked, not walk-in.

Together

  • Cut & Beard 70 min £50 The Cedar Cut or a skin fade, with the beard shaped in the same sitting.
  • The Long Sit 90 min £64 Cut, hot towel shave and a scalp rinse, with the chair held for the full hour and a half.

Tuesdays are apprentice days. A senior barber checks every stage, the cut takes a little longer, and the chair is £14 for any service on the list.

Your visit

Three steps, and none of them involve waiting on hold.

01

Send the request

Fill in the short form below with the service you want, a barber if you have a preference, and the day that suits you best.

02

We confirm a time

You get an email back with a time, the barber's name and how long the chair is held for. If the day is full, we offer the two closest slots.

03

Sit down

Arrive a few minutes early, have a coffee, and talk the cut through before anyone picks anything up. That conversation is part of the booking.

The barbers

You are booking a person, not just a shop.

Ask for whoever you like — or leave it to us and we will match you to the chair that suits the cut.

Clipper work & fades

Nev Ashby

Opened the shop and still takes the first chair. Best hands in the room for a tight fade or anything that needs to be blended by eye.

A barber shaping a client's beard with trimmers.

Beards & straight razor

Rosa Iver

Trained on traditional shaving and runs the hot towel service. Ask her about growing a beard out without the awkward six weeks.

An empty barber chair beside a mirror in a warmly lit shop.

Scissor work & longer hair

Theo Mane

Works mostly with scissors, curls and anything past the collar. Takes the Tuesday apprentice chair alongside his own bookings.

Questions

The ones we get asked most.

Can I walk in without booking?

Yes, before noon on any open day — that is when we keep chairs free. After noon the day is usually booked out, and shaves always need a slot because of the time they take.

Do you cut children's hair?

We do. The First Cut booking gives them a longer, calmer slot, and someone is welcome to sit beside the chair the whole time.

What if I need to cancel?

Reply to your confirmation email. There is no cancellation fee — telling us the day before simply lets someone else take the chair.

Should I turn up with clean hair?

No need. Every cut starts with a wash at the basin, so come as you are. If you are booked for a shave, skip the moisturiser that morning.
